The end of Marvel’s Phase 5 hit Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

The conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 5 hit Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania appeared to be rather upbeat, but was it really?

Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now available for streaming, and it’s a good opportunity to reflect on the controversial debut of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5. Paul Rudd’s character is now part of the exclusive club of heroes with their own trilogy, alongside Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, while also contributing to the progression of the Multiverse Saga.

So, you know how Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania brought in Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors? Well, some people think you could’ve skipped the ending without really missing anything important. Well, except maybe a glimpse of MODOK’s butt in CGI. Rumour has it, the ending got a last-minute reshoot. This is kinda weird, but there’s another theory that the new ending is actually there for a good reason.

Remember when we talked about how Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s ending was kind of rushed. We said that it seemed like something was missing? Well, turns out they changed the original idea of having Scott and Hope stuck in the Quantum Realm. This was to give the movie a more cheerful ending where they all enjoy some Baskin-Robbins cake. It definitely felt a bit out of place with the darker tone of the movie. Gratefully, it did lead us to that jaw-dropping post-credit scene.

Rumors about the ending of Marvel’s Phase 5 hit Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

So basically, there’s a theory going around that the reality Scott and Hope escaped to at the end wasn’t the original timeline. The ending had a weird vibe with several nods to Kang’s signature colors, and Lang’s narration of “My life doesn’t make sense” suggests that he knows something isn’t right. The post-credit scene featuring the Council of Kangs warning about the Multiverse could be a clue that the Baskin-Robbins ending takes place in a new timeline created by the Kangs.

Ant-Man 4? Are We Ready for It?

It certainly seems like there are a lot of loose threads to be tied up in the Ant-Man franchise moving forward. With the introduction of Kang and the Multiverse, there are plenty of opportunities for the story to explore alternate realities and timelines. The original ending of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had some intriguing hints. Therefore, t will be interesting to see how those play out in future films. The Multiverse concept also provides a lot of potential for creative storytelling and continuity. We’ve seen in the Loki series and other upcoming Marvel projects. It’s an exciting time to be a Marvel fan!
