Republic of Benin musical legend, Angélique Kidjo, becomes the first African to receive a star on the coveted Hollywood Walk of Fame. The five-time Grammy-winning musician will join the league of extraordinary talents like Celine Dion, Eugenie Levy, and 2850 other celebrities, with the ceremony scheduled to take place on August 18, 2026. Angélique Kidjo will receive her star in the Recording category at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard, across from the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
She will also be joined by Willem Dafoe (popular for his roles as the Green Goblin), the renowned actor and four-time Oscar nominee, along with Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares.
Commenting on the honor, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said, “We are proud to honor her as the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” She added that this recognition is a testament to Kidjo’s “remarkable contributions to music and culture.”:
