Daniel Etim-Effiong and his wife, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, are co-hosts of the Transparent Talk Show on the Toyosi and Daniel Etim-Effiong YouTube channel. The Talk show explores a range of interesting topics. However, so far, their significant conversations have centered on their businesses, makers, and relationship dynamics.
In a Transparent Talk Show S2E5, published earlier in December, the two discussed their relationships with exes. The episode started with Daniel Etim–Effiong telling his wife that one of his exes slid into his DM “just to check up on him.” His wife said, “I gained hate when we got married.”

The pair went to share their red flags for interacting with or maintaining a relationship with their ex, including whether it’s okay to keep tabs on each other’s exes, to set up a business with an ex, or to get into business with an ex.
Daniel Etim-Effiong Explains Why He Remains Friends With Some of His Exes

The conversation later shifted to staying in touch with exes, a topic Daniel Etim-Effiong addressed with surprising honesty. According to the actor, not every former partner automatically becomes a stranger after a breakup.
“The person is not just your ex, the person is your friend,” he explained.
Daniel went on to say that if a past relationship was healthy and non-toxic, there may be no reason to cut ties completely. He noted that before marriage, both partners had dated other people, but those relationships ended naturally, leading them to each other.
“” Before we got married, you dated other people, I dated other people, but we didn’t end up with them, we ended up with each other. So, do you remain friends with these people or not? I think that’s the question. When you remain friends with them, then it leaves the door open for other conversations, right? Like, hey, I have a business idea, oh, I have an ex who is into this…If it was a wholesome relationship, if it wasn’t toxic, if these people are not terrible, because because yes, because for me, relationships are about relating with others.”
He added that maintaining cordial relationships with exes can sometimes open doors to other conversations, including professional opportunities, as long as clear boundaries are respected.
Daniel emphasized that past partners should not automatically be viewed as enemies, especially when the relationship ended on good terms.
“If these relationships were healthy, why can’t you remain friends with them? Just because you didn’t end up with them doesn’t mean you’re now enemies,” he concluded.
