Career Achievements and What Rita Dominic Is Up To

Rita Dominic has in the past shared that she had to step away from acting in the early 2000s after she fell out with some of her close friends. During this early retirement, the actress relocated to the United Kingdom to start afresh as a caregiver, a job which she described as satisfying, as she did the same with her parents.

She returned to the industry years later with several successful roles and acted in several movie roles, such as Girls Cot, Working Class Lady, and Love Temple.

Starting in 2011, in the post-cinema era, Rita Dominic starred in the award-winning Kenyan film Shattered. The film was directed by Gilbert Lukalia, with Nollywood actress Rita Dominic playing Keziah Njema, a role for which she won the coveted East African award. She won the 2012 Best Actress award at the Kalasha Film and Television Awards in Kenya, making Rita Dominic the first West African to win the award.

Another major comeback role for Rita Dominic was her role as Clara Ikemba in Mildred Okwo’s The Meeting, starring multiple award-winning stars including Femi Jacobs and Linda Ejiofor. Clearly, the collaboration between Rita Dominic and Mildred Okwo has continued to churn out great films, as the pair co-founded The Audrey Silva Company, a leading Nigerian film company founded by two industry veterans, producer and director Mildred Okwo and star actress and producer Rita Dominic, including La Femme Anjola, Surulere, and The Meeting.
