Blessing CEO’s Controversies: From Onye Eze’s Mansion to Cancer Fraud Allegations

The media personality has had several controversies over the years, from falsely claiming ownership of a luxury mansion to her controversial relationship with businessman IVD and, more recently, allegations surrounding her cancer diagnosis and fundraising campaign.
Here is a look at some of the controversies that have kept Blessing CEO in the headlines.
Onye Eze’s House Controversy
Blessing CEO first became widely known in 2019 after she shared pictures of a seven-bedroom mansion on Instagram, claiming that she had built the property to celebrate her 30th birthday.
However, the claim was quickly challenged after a businessman identified as Onye Eze, also known as Onye Eze na China, came forward to establish that the property belonged to him.
The incident generated widespread reactions on social media, particularly after videos emerged showing Blessing admitting that the house was not hers.
On June 3, 2019, she issued a public apology, explaining that she had been under pressure to complete her own house before her 30th birthday and had made a mistake by using pictures of another person’s property.
The controversy became one of the earliest major incidents that shaped her public image and earned her widespread attention on Nigerian social media.
Relationship With IVD
Blessing CEO and businessman Ikechukwu Darry Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, have had one of the most controversial relationships in the Nigerian entertainment space.
Their relationship became a subject of public discussion following the death of IVD’s wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died on October 15, 2022, after sustaining severe injuries in a fire incident at their matrimonial home.
At the time, Blessing CEO publicly defended IVD amid allegations of domestic violence surrounding the couple’s marriage. She also made several controversial statements about the late Bimbo, attracting criticism from members of the public and her family.
In October 2022, she described Bimbo as the violent partner in the marriage and disputed claims that IVD had abused her.
However, rumours about Blessing CEO and IVD being romantically involved continued to circulate.
Initially, she denied dating the businessman, insisting that he was only her client and that she had supported him during his difficult period following his wife’s death.
In November 2023, she reiterated that they had never dated and described their relationship as a friendship.
However, the two eventually became publicly associated as a couple, with their relationship and eventual engagement attracting further attention.

Controversial Comments About Late Bimbo Ogbonna
Blessing CEO’s decision to defend IVD following the death of his wife also put her at odds with the late Bimbo’s family.
Her comments about the deceased, including claims about her mental health and alleged behaviour during the marriage, generated widespread backlash.
The situation became particularly controversial because Bimbo could no longer respond to the allegations being made about her.
The family subsequently took legal steps against Blessing CEO over her comments, with the controversy bringing renewed attention to her activities on social media.
Her comments about the late Bimbo remain among the most criticised moments of her public career.
Fake Cancer Diagnosis and Fundraising Controversy
In March 2026, after spending some time away from social media, Blessing CEO returned with an emotional video in which she appeared to be cutting her hair while crying.
In the video, she claimed that she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and needed financial assistance for surgery and treatment.
However, several Nigerians were immediately sceptical about the announcement because of her previous controversies and history of making questionable claims.
Despite the doubts, some celebrities and members of the public expressed support and offered financial assistance.
The situation took a different turn after an Asaba-based makeup artist and breast cancer survivor, Deborah Mbara, accused Blessing CEO of using her medical test results without permission.
According to Mbara, she had shared her medical report with Blessing CEO after the latter told her that she had also been diagnosed with breast cancer and wanted to compare their results.
However, she later discovered that the report had allegedly been altered and circulated on social media as evidence of Blessing CEO’s supposed diagnosis.
The allegations prompted further outrage, with Mbara’s family petitioning the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 8, 2026, over the alleged use of the medical report and fundraising activities.
The controversy eventually developed into a legal matter, with Blessing CEO facing allegations relating to the cancer fundraising campaign and falsification of medical results.
Alleged Fraud Cases and Detention
The cancer controversy was not the only legal issue Blessing CEO faced in 2026.
On June 9, 2026, the EFCC arraigned her over an alleged ₦36 million property fraud case. She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of ₦10 million.
She was also arraigned in a separate case involving an alleged ₦69.15 million property transaction involving Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited.
In July 2026, she was granted ₦20 million bail in the latter case. However, she remained in custody after reportedly failing to meet the bail conditions.
The social media personality was subsequently remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos while the cases continued.
During her time in detention, she suffered another personal tragedy following the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan, reportedly from an asthma attack.
Blessing CEO eventually regained her freedom on October 24, 2026, after meeting her bail conditions.
However, her release does not mean that the cases against her have been dismissed, as the legal proceedings remain ongoing.
Now back home, the social media personality is dealing with the loss of her son while reflecting on the controversies that have followed her public career.
