Many Nigerians react and voiced their options on social media regarding the circumstances of the arrest and sentencing of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, and the doctor.

Since the news broke, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express concern for the daughter of Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

While some social media users were sympathetic, others were quick to point out the blatant disregard for the law set in Nigeria, which, unfortunately, her father was a custodian of. On the other hand, many Nigerians were sympathetic to Sonai and even offered to help.

Sonia Ekweremadu takes to Instagram to seek help

After her parents were arrested and charged in court, Sonia, 25, took to her social media to seek public help to get a kidney donor.

Part of her statement reads.

“I am appealing to anybody whom it may please assist me willingly with a kidney donation in the name of God. I do not intend to delve into details of this unfortunate development as the matter is still in Court.” She wrote on her Instagram page.

“I am, however, optimistic that the truth will prevail and it will end in praise to God,” Sonia Ekweremadu.

Although Sonia has since disabled the comment sections on her Instagram page. Some reactions to her public plea for help include:

“God will heal you dear ????,” mzdanabeth.

“Let one of your siblings donate for you. Or even still your mom or dad. Don’t disturb us we have suffer enough for this country biko,” janefranceschukwuma.

“May The God of NSPPD locate with a brand new kidney,”peach_adepa.

UK laws allegedly broken by the Ekweremadu

Since the inception of the case, they have made several assumptions and speculations. It was first reported that the victim was an underage hawker who was taken from Nigeria with the promise of “a better life” in exchange for his kidney.

But as the case progressed and with the intervention of the National Identity Management Commission, it was however discovered that the unnamed man was 21 years old.  

This discovery was not enough to vindicate the senator and his wife, Beatrice Ekweremadu. This is because the circumstances of his travel to the United Kingdom were falsified in the first place.

Based on reports, here are other reasons the UK prosecutor has a strong case against the Senator Ike Ekweremadu

• It is illegal in the UK to offer a kidney in exchange for favours and money.
• The victim claimed he was threatened by the doctor, who is also charged alongside the Ekweremadus.
• They did not duly counsel the victim on the reparation and the long-term effects of donating his kidney.

According to reports, all of these infractions were allegedly committed by the Ekweremadus.
