Lola Omotayo started a relationship with Peter of P-Square sometime around 2005 and dated for about 7–8 years before marrying in 2013. Although they seemed smitten, at the time, rumors were swirling about the Okoye family not accepting her into their family. According to the singer, shortly after they gave birth to their first son, Cameron, in September 2008, Lola Omatayo was invited to their home in Omole Estate and asked to come without the son. Despite that, it would have been their mother, Ifoma Okoye, who would have had the opportunity to meet her grandson.
The family members, including their oldest brother, Mother, Jude, and Paul, had a meeting in Peter’s room, made Lola, who was a nursing mother, sit on the floor, and told her:
“We, the Okoye family, have decided that you should leave our son alone”
Peter also detailed how Jude screamed at Lola at the top of his voice, “leave Peter alone,” just after taking a picture of the newborn son, Cameron, and making the offensive statement in Igbo that translated to ” a child that does not resemble his father or his mother is a bastard.” Following that incident, Peter disclosed that he did not see his son for about four months, until the mother intervened and confirmed that Cameron was in fact the son of the family.
Paul Okoye reacts to the allegations, writing, “Unfortunately, you’re not here to defend yourself. Continue resting, Mum.”
