Over the years, Liquorose has opened up about her family background, first in the Big Brother Naija house, when she told fellow housemate Pere about a time when her father struggled financially. She stated that her father went from having cars and drivers to struggling greatly.

In a recent chat with VJ Adams on Off The Top With VJ Adams, she opened up about how her entrepreneurial drive pushed her to hawk food and sell okrika (Thrifted clothes).

“I hawked food, cooked rice in the market. After school, I would prepare the food, arrange it, and carry it on my head to sell. We were not a poor family; I just really loved doing business. I would go to Yaba market, buy Okirika, and resell it. I also sold toys. I had money. But the day they found out, they flogged me severely. I was about eight or nine years old.”

During the same interview, she also spoke fondly of her older sister and brother and how they inspire and support her, both before and during her fame. In addition to birthday shout-outs and other special outings like AMVCA Night, Liquorose gives fans a glimpse into her sibling love and her mother.

Career and Endorsements

Liquorose is the epitome of a true entertainer, with talent in dancing, singing, acting, and writing. In her early career, she focused more on her musical talents, telling VJ Adams that she had written an entire rap album when she was younger.

Many of her fans know her as “Liquorose bbn” association with the sixth season of Big Brother Naija; however, for those who were attentive, before she appeared on the 2021 season, they have seen her in other projects like the coveted African Magic TV series, The Johnsons, from popular GGB Dance Crew, and a few music videos and movies.

Roseline Omokhoa “Liquorose” Afije spent all 70 days in Big Brother’s house, finishing as the first runner-up, second only to that season’s winner, White Money.

Her run in Big Brother Niahja was pretty smooth, with a few fights, some entertainment, and, at the time, what fans thought was a steaming romance with fellow contestant Emmanuel Umoh.

Liquorose and Emmanuel BBN

The pair formed the EmmaRose ship, which capsized when she was forced, leading to their one-sided relationship. Additionally, during the Big Brother: Shine Ya Eye Reunion, Liquorose disclosed that she walked into Emmanuel’s room with another lady. This was before Emmanuel and Liquorose had a back-and-forth about whether their relationship was defined.

Liquorose and Saga

Fans of Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye will attest that the pair of Big Brother Naija’s Saga and Liquorose are an odd pair. During their time on Big Brother, the pair were locked in with other housemates. Saga was with Nini (Anita Singh), while Liquorose and Emmanuel were in a relationship.

Even though Liquorose and Saga have never clearly stated that they are more than friends, recreating intense emotional moments from various movies has led fans of the YouTube series Couple Chronicles to believe there could be more than a platonic relationship between the on-screen couple.

More recently, netizens noticed that Liquorose and Saga may have had a little tiff after Liquorose snubbed Saga Adeolu when he debuted Falling Notes. They never reacted, confirmed, or denied the rumors; however, the line may have fallen into place as they collaborated on promotional material for a popular soft drink.

Liquorose and GGB Dance Crew

Before Liquorose became a household name in Nigeria, her crew, GGB Dance Crew, was already making waves on social media for its dance and choreography.

The GGB Dance Crew was made up of Ifeoma Efiokwu (@E4ma_), Emmanuella Odiley (Ellaley), and Rose Ajife (Liquorose). Liquorose disclosed on the Off The Top with VJ Adams Podcast that the group was four and had become three, and they were inspired by the CEO Dancer.

Liquorose has disbanded from the crew. Fans began speculating after noticing that Liquorose was left out of their 10th-anniversary post on February 14, 2024. Long before the post, the duo of Ifeoma and Emmanuella had been making their videos without Liquorose, and it’s been the same since then.

What is the meaning of Liquorose, and how did she get the name?

In a recent interview with VJ Adams onthe Off The Top with VJ Adams Podcast on YouTube, she shared a brief history of how she came up with the name Liquorse.

According to her, “she picked Liquorose on December 31, 2012.” She explained that she added liquor to her name based on a phrase her mother used to say, “alcohol no dey shame.” Calling herself liquorrose was a way of reminding herself to leave her shyness behind and act like the camera:

“I’m very shy person too, you know. And my mom is always like, “Oh, she’s saying her language like ‘alcohol no dey a shame- Alcohol is shy.’ So Liquorose. So every time people come like Liquorose, I have to like, “No, leave that shy girl behind.” Now the camera is in front of you, just- just be yourself.”
