However, the news of the takeover by Cristiano Ronaldo is not only welcomed by the club’s executives, but fans from all over the world are excited to see how much impact it will make on the club, thanks to its new board member, especially as Almeria was relegated to the second division in April 2024.

Almeria, however, is performing excellently and is set for a possible promotion back to Spain’s top league this season. They are currently third in Spain’s second tier, two points adrift of leaders Racing Santander after 27 games.

Although Ronaldo’s presence not only brings clout but also valuable contacts and places the club in front of the world through the global appeal of the famous footballer, this is a welcome step for CR7. Fans, however, can’t help but wonder if this is Cristiano’s first step towards retirement, as he had previously stated that he may venture into ownership after his career on the pitch.

Even though many assumed that he might retire when he turned forty, that proved not to be the case, with a new two-year contract being signed with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. That deal will take the evergreen frontman beyond his 42nd birthday. If he still feels up to it, then his record-shattering career could be extended even further beyond that point.

While Cristiano Ronaldo continues to fulfil his very juicy contract in the Middle East with Al-Nassr, the purchase may seem like sudden news. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has always expressed his desire to focus on the ownership and corporate side of football after his legendary time on the pitch.

“I have long had the ambition to contribute to football beyond the pitch.”
