Florence Otedola (DJ Cuppy)Earns Global Award at DIAFA 2025

Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has bagged international awards for her philanthropy. In addition to her career as an international DJ and heiress, Florence Otedola, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has always prioritized giving back to the community, mainly through the Cuppy Foundation.

This time, Florence Otedola is finally receiving recognition and her flowers at The Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA). DIAFA is an annual event held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to honor distinguished personalities from around the world. She shared this news via her InstagramStory, writing:

“I received a DIAFA 2025 award in Dubai for philanthropy and the work we do at the @cuppyfoundation. God did that and to be honest He has beeeeeen doing it in my life.

I’m so grateful for real.”

How DJ Cuppy’s Philanthropic Work Through the Cuppy Foundation Has Grown Over the Years

Florence Otedola (Cuppy) launched the Cuppy Foundation in 2018 and received huge donations from her father, Femi Otedola, and Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote. Each made a sizable donation of 5 billion Naira and 100 million Naira, respectively.

The donation made by the patrons at the lunch of the Cuppy Foundation was dedicated to the rehabilitation of displaced and underprivileged children who are victims of the insurgency in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The Cuppy Africa Steinhardt Scholars Fund

In 2024, the Cuppy Foundation partnered with New York University and Steinhardt to create the Cuppy Africa Steinhardt Scholars Fund at New York University. This fund aims to provide financial support to African graduate students at the University by creating the Cuppy Africa Steinhardt Scholars Fund.

Leaving No One Behind

In 2022, the Cuppy Foundation partnered with the Street to School Initiative to improve the school experience for vulnerable children in Lagos, Nigeria, by providing school meals and raising awareness of mental health and personal hygiene.

The Cuppy Africa Scholars Fund, University of Oxford

After earning one more degree from the prestigious Oxford University in 2022, the Cuppy Foundation partnered with the University of Oxford, African Oxford Initiative. The Cuppy Africa Scholars Fund provides grants to enrolled African graduate students at the University of Oxford who face unexpected and urgent financial needs. 

Investing in children today to see a better tomorrow 

In 2022, the Cuppy Foundation partnered with The Office of the Sustainable Development Goals and Investment (Lagos Global) to support State efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 – quality education, alongside Sustainable Development Goal 5 – gender equality.

Supporting Education through Football

Between 2021 and 2022, the Cuppy Foundation partnered with Lutengo and successfully sponsored over 10 school bursaries and provided regular football training for over 100 children.
