Ini Dima-Okojie got married to Abasi Ene-Obong in a star-studded ceremony tagged #AChocolateLoveStory on May 28, 2022. Like most Nollywood actors, the actress’s wedding was the talk of the town, with several celebrities showing up and showing out.

Like Ini, who has an extensive and successful career in action, Ini Dima-Okojie’s Husband, Abasi Ene-Obong, is also highly successful in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. In fact, her husband was honored on the coveted TIME100 Health 2025 list as one of the most influential people in global health.

In 2024, Mr. Abasi faced allegations of financial misappropriation from 54Gene Inc, which Abasi co-founded and served as its CEO, growing the company to a valuation of nearly $200m before stepping down in October 2022. Abasi Ene-Obong soon after founded Syndicate Bio, a biotechnology company.

Ini Dima-Okojie and her husband, Abasi Ene-Obong, became an item some time after the actress voiced her frustration at not being able to find her favourite chocolates in Lagos. Mr Abasi, a fan at the time, offered to send some to her, and, as they say, the rest is history. Despite keeping their relationship under wraps, they shared their beautiful love story on an Instagram post, writing:

“About two years ago, on one random day, I was ranting on my Insta stories about not being able to find fresh crispy Maltesers in Lagos (they are one of my fave chocolates). Next thing, I get an email from an Abasi titled ‘Maltesers from London’ 😅 saying he saw my rant on Instagram and he was in London at the time and would love to send some Maltesers to my manager or representative’s address. One week later I got a whole bag filled with maltesers. I was so happy, I posted it on my Insta stories saying I had the best fans. But you were not just a fan, and boy did you let me knowww!. Reading our old emails now… I can’t help but smile and thank God for how far we’ve come.”

Ini Dima-Okojie shared her experience via her Instagram page, highlighting her emotional journey from the sudden bulge in her stomach, her diagnosis, treatment via surgery, and her recovery.

She said

 “I found out I had fibroids in 2017. I remember freaking out so much. The first gynaecologist I saw said if it wasn’t bordering me he would advise I leave it alone but that I had better go and quickly get married (no jokes),”

… “anyway, fast forward to March 2020, the bulge on my lower belly had got bigger & my new gynaecologist advised I take out the fibroids. Then COVID-19 happened, and we had to put the surgery on hold. In the meantime, I tried other things… herbs, clean diet, exercise…,”

“I had the surgery, it was successful and I’m now healing slowly but surely,”
