Love Island Season 8 Girls May Be Ditching the “Girls’ Girl” Pact, and I Think It’s for the Best!

In previous seasons of Love Island, fans saw the women try to rally around one another, build friendships, and support each other. Although they mostly just tried to, because, again, like fans love to remind them, “it’s Love Island and not Friendship Island,” and they all, at some point, have to put themselves first.

Regardless, fans of the show haven’t stopped drooling over Love Island Season 6’s Power Puff Girls (Leah, Serena, and Jana) while also wondering which friendships from previous seasons are still pretty solid.

Melanie from Love Island Season 8 said she wasn’t a girls’ girl, and I believe this may be the best way to have the perfect Love Island season.

Here’s One Thing Love Season 6 and 7 Proved About Girl Code

For Love Island Season 6, the girls had a budding friendship, but that never really stopped them from exploring. Although it did cause a few rifts in their friendship, fans can at least say, “all’s well that ends well,” and easily forget that Leah started chatting with Connor while he was coupled up with JaNa. And let’s not forget Egg Gate, which nearly tore Serena Page and JaNa Craig apart.

In Love Island Season 7, the girls literally had a pact from the moment they met to basically all be “girls’ girls,” and that all nearly went out the window the moment Huda’s crash-out started. It was finally thrown out completely during the Stand on Business challenge when Olandria called out Huda for making out with Chris, and again during the Heart Rate Challenge.

Fans are still divided on exactly which girl code was broken, but they’re pretty sure some code was broken when Huda danced all over Ace, and Chelley was not having it.

One thing, however, remains true: moving respectfully matters. Whether it’s having a conversation with your friend first, as Leah did with JaNa before fully pursuing Connor, or sneaking up on your girl the way Olandria did, the difference, girl code or not, is how much consideration you give the next person before your actions.

Why Melanie’s KC and Corbin Moves Might Be the Smartest Love Island Strategy

According to Melanie, “any real woman who loves women never has to say I’m a girl’s girl; it just shows in the way you behave and the way you show up for them.”

Melanie may be onto something this time because, in a reality TV like Love Island, carrying that “girl’s girl” badge on your shoulder so early in the season when friendships and connections aren’t so deep is what Gen Z would call a “cop out.” This is why it is quite the boss move to see her say to Aniya, “I am pulling KC for a chat,” and then pull KC for a chat, and then leave the girls confused by snatching the bombshell Corbin from the group for a one-on-one chat.

Fans may disagree with her methods, but in a perfect world, at the very least, having a chat with a potential connection is one way to ensure every Love Island cast member makes the most of the Love Island experience.
